Sigur Rós – Fjögur píanó

“sigur rós have given a dozen film makers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the band’s new album valtari. the idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. among the filmmakers are ramin bahrani, alma har’el and john cameron mitchell.” taken from the the valtari mystery film experiment.

Flyleaf – Chasm

A tad on the depressing side, but a beautifully animated video.

A Bleak Evening

One disagreeable result of whispering is that it seems to evoke an atmosphere of silence, haunted by the ghosts of sound – strange cracks and tickings, the rustling of garments that have no substance in them, and the tread of dreadful feet that would leave no mark on the sea-sand or the winter snow.”

Les Triplettes de Belleville

The Triplets of Belleville is a rather odd animated French tale. Awesome movie though, with some very unique music throughout. Excellent surreal animation -we’re especially found of the poor dog’s dream scene.

Eye of the Tiger

One of the more enjoyable bits of the movie Persepolis. The animated film was made after Marjane Satrapi’s original comics that detail her life growing up in Iran during and after the Islamic revolution. It’s an incredibly powerful story written from the point of view of an average girl growing up in a war most Westerners have a hard time understanding or empathizing with. It’s her simple telling of her tale that allows outsiders to see her world through her eyes. It helps put one beyond our preconceived notions of what a whole people are like because we’re only allowed access to the media or world’s view of them.
